How to Promote Your Website on Instagram?

There are nearly 500 million daily active users on Instagram, which might be a piece of good news for businesses and brands that try to promote their websites and products on Instagram. There are six steps below that help you promote your business and website on Instagram.

Let’s dive in!

Take care about Instagram bio

Obviously, users read your Instagram bio before hitting the “Follow” button, then how do you encourage them to hit the button?

Choose the related Instagram username and profile photo, which represent your business as well as write a catchy and informative Instagram bio to convince users you are worth following.

Generally, it would help if you write a short description of your business and your contact ways or get Instagram bio ideas from your competitors. Besides, once there is a change in your business, you can easily edit your Instagram bio and update the information.

Set up an optimized Instagram business account

How to switch my personal Instagram account to a business account? The first step to promoting your website on Instagram is switching your Instagram account to a Business account and optimizing it.

  1. Open the Instagram app and go to your profile
  2. Tap on the three lines on the top right corner
  3. Tap on “Settings”
  4. Then tap on “Account”
  5. Next, tap on “Switch to professional account” at the bottom of the page.
  6. Choose “Business” over Creator and tap on “Next.”
  7. Then connect your Facebook page to your Instagram account.
  8. Finally, review your contact information and tap on “Done.”

Switching to an Instagram business account has a lot of benefits, including:

  • Get access to Instagram analytics and insights
  • Auto publish posts on Instagram
  • Be able to advertise on Instagram and make promoted posts
  • Add a link to your Instagram story
  • Tag products in your posts

Add the website link to your bio

The “link in bio” tactic always work! Clearly, the first place that followers see is your Instagram bio, meaning that by adding the proper call to action and website link, you can redirect your followers to your website. Moreover, you would be lucky to convert your followers to customers at their first visit to your website.

As you may know, Instagram allows users to only add a single link in their bio, which might not be enough! So, what if you want to share several links with your followers?

The good news is that there are some Instagram links in bio tools that let users add several links in one link. Plus, you can add your email address and contact information, choose your favorite theme, add tags to your products, share eBooks, and more.

Another advantage of using the Instagram bio link tool is showing the insight and analytics of the number of users who clicked on your link and visited each page on your landing page.

To mention some of the Instagram links in bio tools, we can name Linktree, which is paid in some features, and My.URLs bio, which is totally free.

Here is the step-by-step guide to adding a link to your Instagram bio:

  1. Open the Instagram app and tap on your profile photo on the bottom right.
  2. Tap on “Edit Profile” at the top of the page
  3. Write the bio text (Maximum 150 characters) and add the link to the “Website” section.
  4. Finally, tap “Done” to save the bio

Add a call to action in captions and images

Knowing that you can’t add clickable links in captions doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use a call to action in your posts! In other words, you should use a call to action in photos and captions and ask users to click on the link in the bio.

The great thing about Instagram stories is that you can use them to share a range of links, you can use stories to drive website traffic in general or to drive traffic to a specific product listing or blog post.

Once restricted to accounts with over 10,000 followers, Instagram story links are now available for everyone. Using Instagram stories, you can provide your followers with real-time reminders to visit your website landing page.

Run Instagram ads

Instagram ads let you find your target audience and increase your website visits and customers. Happily, you are free to add clickable links in Instagram ads, which lets users learn more about your post by clicking on them.

Ads on Instagram are offered as an image, a video, and a carousel that lets you add clickable links on posts.

Image. The image ads are single photos with a caption.

Video. Video ads can be up to 30 seconds long in portrait or landscape format.

Carousel. If you need to tell a story or show several photos, you can choose the carousel ad.

Expert advice on how to promote your site on Instagram

Anna Chiranova, co-founder at Ucanproduction

Include your URLs in videos and reels

Whenever you’re creating video content for Instagram and it has some relevance to visiting your website, make sure to include your URL as text over top. While this URL won’t be clickable, or copyable, it’s better than nothing.

Don’t include the full URL of what you’re referring to, especially in something like Reels, as it’s too long. Instead, just use your main website URL, even if it’s just for brand recognition. The more people see your URL the more they will remember it.

It may only flash on the screen for a couple of seconds, but giving people the option of where to go next if they want more from you is a great way to build an audience.

While there are a number of different strategies that can be effective, here are three of the most important things to keep in mind.
First, it’s important to remember that people tend to scroll quickly through their feeds, so you need to make sure your content is eye-catching and engaging. Use high-quality images and videos, and consider using creative filters or editing techniques to make your posts stand out.

Second, it’s crucial to use relevant hashtags and captions to help potential customers find your content. Be sure to do your research and use hashtags that are popular in your industry.

Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of content. Instagram users are always looking for something new, so mix things up and post a variety of content styles.

One of the great ways to promote your website and generate traffic is through social media marketing. This is because the internet is now where people are gathered. All that is required of you are simple steps you need to follow to get it right. Perhaps you have been doing the same thing over and over again and you have not been getting the desirable results. Don’t fret! You will get it right. Instagram is a great place to explore and you can generate more traffic and get your target audience to find you.
Tip 1 – Spend quality time creating your profile: Let your profile speak well about you and what you do. Also, make sure to include your website in your bio. Whenever someone checks on your profile, your website URL is just visible for them to see.
Tip 2 – Write compelling stories about the service you offer: This is going to give readers a glimpse of the service you are rendering. Make sure to include your website URL in your content. You can also use an anchor text that takes people to your website when readers go through your stories on Instagram. Also, let your readers know they can find you through the website URL in your bio.
Tip 3 – Use a clear and simple call to action: A clear and simple call to action can captivate readers and make them curious about what they will find on visiting your website. You can tease your readers to visit your website for the full story especially if you have interesting contents that are able to get their attention.
Tip 4 – Include pictures and short videos: People have an unquenchable appetite for visuals. When you can let them see some of your works being displayed on your Instagram posts, they definitely will love to find out more on your website.

I read your article and you have compiled some amazing tips already! So instead of repeating what others have said — all of which is excellent advice! — I’d like to add one thing that I feel is THE most important aspect of promoting your website: genuine engagement.

While an optimized bio, quality content, proper links, a good hashtag strategy, calls to action in captions, etc. are all very important aspects of promoting your website on Instagram, none of those things will have the desired impact without devoting time to genuine engagement. And by that, I mean genuine engagement without selling or asking for anything in return. This is especially true for small businesses/brands or new websites that don’t yet have the site authority or trustworthiness that gets people to automatically click on your links the way they do for established brands.

By spending time engaging with your audience, it helps build real connections and trust. This means taking time every, single day not just to like posts, but to leave thoughtful comments — 5 words or more and not just emojis! — as well. It means reacting to story posts and replying to story polls and questions. It means responding to every single comment or DM you receive with a meaningful reply, not just a “thank you” or an emoji. It means following the key hashtags for your industry and commenting on photos and videos you find there, even if those people don’t follow you. Simply put, it means giving far more than you get!

Because before anyone will trust you enough to visit your website, they first have to get to know you, and then they have to like you. That “Know-Like-Trust” formula is the most foundational way to build authentic, lasting connections, and those are the people who are more likely going to support you, visit your site, and buy from you.

How to Promote Your Website on Instagram? Aside from your company name, username, and website URL, your Instagram profile allows you to write a bio of up to 150 characters. Your bio is an opportunity to make a good first impression, to explain what your company does and why people should care. Your bio should explain who you are and what you do while also conveying the identity of your brand.
This is difficult when you only have 150 characters at your disposal, so you should always:

  • Use short, simple words and line breaks to separate your text.
  • Use emojis to quickly create a sense of brand personality.
  • Tell visitors what to do next using a CTA, or call-to-action.

Captions are arguably as important as the image or video they accompany in terms of engagement. The best captions, like any good copy, are clear and concise, and easy to read. In fact, the best captions don’t require the reader to think at all. They’re simple to consume and comprehend.
Understanding your audience and your brand voice is essential for achieving this effect. The former ensures that your content is engaging and memorable. The latter will make sure that your content is accurate and easily identifiable.

Instagram has become a rising platform for marketing. It fosters brand awareness and is a contemporary way of reaching out to target audiences. To promote the website on Instagram, and encourage collaboration. Collaboration is a powerful strategy that yields fruitful results for your brand. Working with an influencer is a subtle yet popular way to get your brand out there. Be it a new website, product, or service – collaborating with an influencer is going to grow your brand.

Another way is to include a website link throughout your profile. Add it to your page’s Instagram bio, followed by a link under every new post you add. It will draw users’ attention to your website, eventually increasing website traffic. Link back to your website content using Instagram stories. Be creative with the stories. Instagram Video is an excellent tool for promoting your website for a few reasons. A study actually found that video content has 38% more engagement than photos on Instagram, meaning there is an increased engagement compared to other types of content.

In-feed video posts are definitely catchy, especially when you’re able to deliver the message in just a few seconds. Although IG videos can be as long as 60 minutes, I would recommend going for shorter lengths when promoting your website. Short-form videos like those on Tiktok and Facebook Reels have shown incredible success, and bringing that on the IG platform has great potential.

To further your reach, you can always opt for paid ads, but including relevant hashtags, user tags, or location tags are still a must. If you want to go big, collaborate with IG influencers and creators to make the videos for you. Getting exposure in your desired communities would be much easier when you collaborate with a creator that’s aligned with your brand values.

1. Optimize your account: The first step in promoting your website on Instagram is to optimize your account, making sure that it includes all of the essential elements that will help you to build a strong online presence and attract new followers. Some key considerations include choosing a username that reflects your website or brand, setting up a profile photo that is consistent with the branding of your site, and writing an engaging bio that gives users a sense of what they can expect when they visit your site.

2. Post high-quality content: Once you have optimized your Instagram account, the next step is to start uploading quality content on a regular basis. This could include posts about recent articles on your site, inspirational quotes that relate to the themes of your website, or previews of upcoming features on your blog. By consistently providing engaging content for your followers, you can help to drive more traffic back to your website and build solid relationships with potential customers and clients.

3. Utilize relevant hashtags: In addition to posting high-quality content on a regular basis, another effective way to promote your website and get more exposure on Instagram is to use relevant hashtags in all of your posts. By typing specific keywords into the caption section of each post, you can make it easier for other users to discover and engage with the content you post on this platform. Additionally, hashtags are also useful for passively promoting yourself by giving potential customers more information about who you are and what you do without having to explicitly ask for their attention or interaction with you or the brand that you represent.

4. Take advantage of partnerships: Another powerful way to grow your following and increase web traffic using Instagram is through strategic partnerships with other businesses or influencers within your niche market or industry. For example, if you run an eCommerce store selling yoga pants, partnering with related brands like fitness apparel companies or influencers who run popular fitness blogs might be a smart move in terms of drawing more customers back to both platforms while also increasing awareness of each separate brand within the broader community or industry as a whole. With just a little creativity and effort put into making these types of partnerships happen, it can be easy to see exponential returns when it comes not just to increasing website traffic but also building long-term loyalty among current customers while also attracting new ones at the same time.

ASAP change to a business profile

Make sure you have an Instagram Business Account before planning your Instagram marketing strategy.

Changing your current profile to a business account is simple

To begin, simply navigate to your preferences and select “Switch to Business Profile.” You can build and post Instagram ads using a business profile without using Meta’s advertising capabilities. Additionally, you have access to Instagram’s Insights analytics tools, which offer statistics on the impressions and reach of your posts.

Utilize free tools for an Instagram marketing

You can also receive a breakdown of your followers’ racial, ethnic, and geographic demographics. These free resources are crucial since they allow you to pinpoint how viewers are interacting with your material. You can check statistics like impressions, engagement data, and more through Insights.

Post-Product Teasers That Will (Gently) Prod People Into Purchasing

Instagram is a fantastic platform for product promotion. Product teaser posts are a quick and easy approach to promoting your product and generating interest without coming across as forced. If you’re overly pushy, your followers will disappear like flies, but if you play your cards well, you won’t irritate or turn off users with your ads.

Employ Instagram Stories

When it comes to Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry as much about matching your page with your brand or your image. In-depth posts from behind-the-scenes insiders that might not be as “high-quality” as normal posts can be captured by brands via stories. Additionally, Instagram makes it simple to experiment with various content formats in the Stories feature, including images, brief videos, rewind movies, live videos, Reels, and boomerangs.

Improve Your Search Profile

Optimizing your Instagram profile for search is one of the best (and most neglected) strategies to increase your following on the social media platform. To increase your chances of showing up in the top results when someone searches for your desired keywords, change the name field to something pertinent to your brand or company.

Hide Your Hashtags in the Comments

As you may well know, including hashtags in your posts can significantly increase interaction.

Instagram lets you use up to 30 hashtags per post, but grouping them next to your caption can make it look disorganized.

Fear not, there is an easy fix: add hashtags to your first comment. Making your caption the focus of the post by including hashtags in your first remark is a terrific idea.

You can use Later to automatically publish a first remark that will go live at the exact same time as your post, ensuring that you never miss a single moment of interaction.

Additionally, you can use our Saved Captions tool to store all of your frequently used hashtags in a secure location.

Follow the Most Recent Instagram News and Trends

Last but not least, it’s crucial to stay up to date with all the best Instagram occurrences.

Keeping current can be difficult for a social media manager or business owner, especially on top of the regular workload.

Content Marketing Platform

  • 100,000+ media publications;
  • get backlinks to your product;
  • scale work with content distribution.

All in all

No one can deny the fact that social media has become part of everyone’s life. People read the news, meet new people, order online and shop, and more through social media platforms.

Therefore, if you want to drive more traffic to your website and drive more sales, you shouldn’t miss Instagram. Just learn some tactics and be patient to get good results.

By being smart enough to use the link in your bio, Instagram ads, working with influencers, and more, you can make sure that your website hits a high-traffic target.
